The Great Recession has taken its toll on every one during the last few years and months. In today’s world, things are a little bit more serious than in days past where we just had fun and lived life. Deservingly so, I might add, since now we all are adults. However, a life without laughter is living a life as Scrooge. It can grow weary and the last thing you want to do is end up like Kevin Hart’s granddaddy on the porch from Seriously Funny (shout to Kevin Hart). Enter.PB&J.
PB&J was born from two people helping each other over the years. Now they have decided to pair up and bring you PB&J….Eternally Classic, a comedic mental snack break. Here is the interview I had the privelage of conducted as they prep thefor next years launch.
PB&J……Eternally Classic
Kinge: What is PB&J? What caught my eye was ‘comedic mental snack break’…and immediately I was curious.
Lex: PB&J is a movement for everyone (man, woman, boy or girl). A brand in the making, created with the sole intention of placing a little levity into a world that sorely needs it. Kids grow up FAR too fast in today’s society and adults aren’t afforded the chance to enjoy the simplicities of life. So our goal is to provide the comedic mental snack break that the world needs, starting on 1-11-11!!!
Kinge: PB&J is a classic, classic kid sandwich (adults even). Considering the purpose of the company, did this seem like an obvious choice when it came to the company name?
Jai: To be honest it was more like a stroke of unintentional genius. The name was actually derived from the nicknames of our individual kids. Lex’s daughter Patience (PB) and my son Jaden (J). It just so happens that one thing Lex and I have in common, is an addiction to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Which like you said is nothing short of a classic in itself. The company name really just fell out of the sky and landed on a plate.
Kinge: Content wise, I’m sure we can expect positive content. Regarding subject matter, how far reaching will you go concerning topics? Will you all touch current events such as politics or trending topics?
Well our base is comedy. But the beauty of this kind of animal, is that it’s adaptable. Something like politics is tricky, because you don’t want to alienate a group of people because of your views versus theirs. But trending topics, national or world events, if it’s something that we feel strongly enough about and it can be voiced by PB&J w/o compromising our general view… that’s a definite possibility.
Kinge: How often will content appear on the site? Daily, weekly, etc. Will there be exclusive content available via Twitter or Facebook?
That has yet to be decided. We’re still in the brainstorming phases of what we want to do with our online footprint post-launch. Sales, advertising, real-time interaction, blogging, newsfeeds, etc, not 100% sure at this point, but we’re close. One thing I can guarantee, PB&J’s presence on any form of social media, will not become a post every blue moon type of outfit. It will be regular, consistent communication.
Kinge: You know that means. Sign up for the newsletter, follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Stay connected so you don’t miss out! What can we look forward to as the year closes up until launch from PB&J?
Heading into the close of this year, we’re looking to have our promotional tees sent out to those individuals who have signed up for our newsletter via the PB&J website (http://eternallyclassic.com). Once 1-11-11 arrives, there will be an initial release of PB&J apparel available for purchase on the website. Afterwards, there will be additional options to be strategically released throughout the year.
Kinge: What are some of artists that you’re bumping right now?
Honestly, if it’s hot it can get some burn. That’s all genres of music save for country… nothing personal, lol. But since this is Whatizhiphop.com: Wale, “More About Nothing” Mixtape, J. Cole, “Friday Night Lights” Mixtape, Joell Ortiz, “Me, Myself & I, pt. II” Mixtape. Mainly mixtapes right now. Waiting on that Joell Ortiz, “Free Agent” to drop.
Kinge: If you could describe PB&J as a current artists (old or new), whom would you compare it to?
Okay, I’m a fan of this question here. PB&J as a current artist, I would probably compare to Curren$y. And I say that because, he has a national buzz that he created as an independent artist from a spot that has established talent (i.e. Wayne, New Orleans). Like him or not, he’s stamped by a lot of established artist and has a movement of folks screaming JET LIFE. The same with Wiz and his TGOD movement. We are pushing for that kind of bubbling movement … PB&JOD (PB&J Or Die) lol. Think Drake’s buzz and potential, with better execution.
PB&J as an older artist… Outkast. Reasoning, longevity in the game. And the way they’ve morphed from where they started, and remained relevant and consistent.
Kinge: That’s what’s up. Dope, dope answers. PB&J is definitely hip-hop and more.
To stay up to date on PB&J, you can catch them on Twitter (@eternallypbandj) and Facebook. As always, the website Eternallyclassic.com will have the latest info. Sign up for the newsletter so you don’t miss out. WIHH thanks PB&J for the opportunity to speak with them on this great idea. We are definitely looking forward to 1-11-11!!

I am definitely looking forward to PB&J launch. A true brand that will be very related to everyone!
All of these prospects are capable to make negotiations with each other without requiring compulsory intermediaries which are now and again slowed or blocked the progress all the way through the industry’s milestone.
